The pictures on the left are examples of a solution to an engineering challenge often found in many facilities.

Studio A in one of New York's premier creative and commercial studios, Smythe and Company,LTD.
(a very active,and well known,for decades) jingle and music production house had been significantly upgraded in 1997.
This included the installation of the Otari © STATUS mixing console. The challenge of integrating it with existing cabling, primarily tie-lines residing in troughs, was in need of an innovative solution. New wiring, via multipair was also specified.

In addition to creating the primary interface to the new console, which required approx. 34 - 8 pair balanced sub-D 25 "snakes", much additional wiring was needed. This was to consist of 56 balanced instrument lines, new multi-track recorder multipairs, and new tie lines that were to be built to be pulled through existing troughs.
